|
MAILED: Sept. 27, 1999
EAU CLAIRE
Baroque religious paintings, traditional folk art, graffiti, old advertising, side show banners and tattoo art all are referenced in the work of Fred Stonehouse and his exhibit "200 Works on Paper."
The exhibit will open with a reception at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, in the Foster Gallery of the Haas Fine Arts Center and will run through Oct. 28.
"Stonehouse is primarily known for his paintings and mixed media and plans to fill the gallery with his drawings that reflect a preoccupation with the traditions that celebrate the irrational, the anti-natural and the perverse in style and subject matter," said Tom Wagener, director of the Foster Gallery.
Foster Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays and 1-4:30 p.m. weekends. For more information about gallery exhibits, call Tom Wagener at (715) 836-2328. -30- JV/BW
