Career Information Conference
Slated For Oct. 7
MAILED: Sept. 24, 1999|
The annual Career Information Conference is slated for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 7 in Zorn Arena at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
All UW-Eau Claire students freshmen through seniors are invited to attend, as are faculty and staff.
Among the goals of the conference is to promote early interaction between employers and students of all ages, said Jeanne Sinz, director of Career Services.
"We want students to start developing relationships with potential employers as early as their freshman year," Sinz said. "If students learn early in their college careers what employers expect in terms of experiences, skills and personal qualities, they can work toward meeting those expectations and be well positioned when they enter the work force."
In addition, the interactions make students more aware of career opportunities that are available to them, Sinz said. The conference also provides an opportunity for employers to discuss curriculum with faculty and staff, thus partnering with the university to continue to meet the needs of a changing work place, she said.
Representatives from more than 120 organizations will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about employment opportunities with their organizations. Among the companies that will be represented are 3M, the Eau Claire Area Industrial Development Corp., Kraft Pizza Co., Lands' End, Mervyn's California, Northwestern Mutual Life, Schneider, Target, the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and W.J. Bauman & Associates. Several regional graduate schools also will have representatives at the conference to talk with participants.
Beta Epsilon Sigma and Career Services will sponsor the Career Information Conference. For more information about the Career Information Conference, contact Career Services at (715) 836-5359.
