Justin Roth to Perform
At The Cabin Sept. 23-25
MAILED: Sept. 20, 1999|
Justin Roth will present three free concerts in The Cabin at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Sept. 23-25. A singer, songwriter and acoustic guitarist based in Minnesota, Roth will begin his shows at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in the Davies Center coffeehouse.
Roth blends thoughtful lyric ballads, groove-oriented folk and finger-style instrumentals. Instrumentally, his greatest influences have been guitarists Michael Hedges, Billy McLaughlin and Willy Porter; lyrically and vocally, he is most influenced by David Wilcox, Martin Sexton and John Gorka.
While attending the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Roth released his debut CD, "Up Until Now" (1997). After spending three years booking and promoting musical performances for regional and national acts, he graduated with a degree in performing arts management with a minor in music.
Roth performs more than 115 performances each year throughout the Midwest and will release his second CD this fall. When not touring for his own music he is road manager for one of his guitar heroes and mentors, Billy McLaughlin.
The show is open to all ages; proof of age is required for alcohol purchase. The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
