Gina Liebsch, Ham Lake, Minn., who will attend the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire this fall, has received a Blugold Fellowship for the 1999-00 academic year.
Blugold Fellowships are given annually to up to 20 incoming freshmen based on academic record, national test scores, an essay, and school and community leadership and service. The fellowship provides an opportunity to do research with or serve as an assistant to faculty. In addition, each recipient will receive a $500 scholarship and a $1,200 stipend. The funds, administered through the UW-Eau Claire Foundation, are renewable for a second year.
Liebsch will work with assistant professor of biology Daniel Conklin on a project relating to his area of study, the cardiovascular system and the physiology of blood vessels.
Liebsch, a graduate of Blaine High School, is the daughter of Jonathan and Jan Liebsch.
