And Journalism Scholarship Winners

The University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire department of communication and journalism awarded several scholarships during its annual Convocation earlier this month.
Junior Betsy Pederson, a communication major from Northfield, Minn., received the $100 Excellence in Communication Scholarship.
The $1,000 Milwaukee Foundation's Journal Foundation-Walter Jay and Clara Charlotte Damm Scholarships were awarded to senior Matt Wise, a political science major from New Berlin, and sophomore Nicole Zimmerman, a journalism major from Rhinelander.
Sophomore David Kuhn, Whitefish Bay, received the $500 Marshall B. Atkinson Scholarship. Kuhn is a journalism and comparative studies in religion major.
Freshman Cristiana Oliveira, a journalism major from Brazil, was awarded the $250 James E. Fields Scholarship.
Junior Jessica Mount, a journalism major from Maple Grove, Minn., was the recipient of the $250 Joanne Friedrick Journalism Scholarship.
Junior Steven Hyden, a journalism major from Appleton, was awarded the $500 William Randolph Hearst Scholarship, a $250 Arthur L. Murray Memorial Scholarship and the $1,200 Ann Devroy Fellowship.
James Johncox, a senior English and philosophy major from Waterford, was awarded a $250 Arthur L. Murray Memorial Scholarship.
Junior Erik Westra, a journalism major from Rochester, Minn., received the $250 Leslie D. Polk Scholarship and the $500 Lee and Esther Sanford Hench Scholarship.
Junior Elizabeth Kuntz, South St. Paul, received a $500 Lee and Esther Sanford Hench Scholarship.
Senior Nicole Prom, a journalism and Spanish major from Saukville received a $500 Lee and Esther Sanford Hench Scholarship.
The $100 Kevin J. Schieffer Scholarship was awarded to sophomore Lori Bower, a journalism major from Hastings, Minn.
The $250 Cindy Schott Humanitarian Award was presented to junior Jamie Bonine, a senior journalism major from Roseville, Minn.
