EAU CLAIRE
Springfest, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's annual outdoor celebration of the season, will run May 10-14.
The free festival on the Central Campus Mall will feature the first-ever "One Man's Junk" thrift sale (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), a brat and burger tent (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and live music by area bands (11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.) Monday through Friday.
The electronic sounds of GASWEB (Guilty As Sin with Extra Bass) will open the live music portion of the festival each day at 11:30 a.m. Incorporating the most electronic equipment two people can operate at once, the band sonically enhances appreciation for the music of NIN, Liebach, Die Warzau, Rammstein and Hootie. Chad Niemuth (Trash) and John Koehler (Turmoil) are the band.
Taking the stage at noon, Springfest's featured bands will be Jerome, an eclectic mix of rock, jazz, hip hop and all that grooves (Monday); bluegrass rockers Jeff White and the Front Porch (Tuesday); The Rubber Band, Eau Claire's newest hard-hitting alternative band (Wednesday); Planet Vinyl, performing improv jazz with a funky twist (Thursday); and psychedelic folk-rockers Ben Shaw and The Embellishment (Friday).
Springfest is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the Student Senate. -30- JS/JB
