UW-Eau Claire Announces Winners|
Of 42nd Annual Juried Art Show

A number of University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students received awards and scholarships based on works submitted for display in the 42nd Annual Juried Student Art Show.
Ceramist Bruce Breckenridge of the UW-Madison art department was the 1999 invited guest artist juror. The annual event showcases the works of students from the past year, with this year's selections made by nationally known artist Breckenridge. More than 250 artworks were entered and 72 of those works were selected for inclusion in the exhibit. The exhibit will be on display through May 16 in the Foster Gallery of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Award winners as selected by Breckenridge were: first place, Sara Black, a junior art major from Clayton, for her mixed media installation titled "Untitled"; second place, Kristine MacCallum, a senior art major from Cadott, for a sculpture named "Unplugged"; and third place, Dustin Larson, a senior art major from Roseville, Minn., for a painting named "Hard Candy Aqua."
Honorable mentions were awarded to: Jesse Albrecht, a senior art major from Amherst, for her ceramics piece named "Untitled"; Cadie Wright, a senior art major from Fond du Lac, for her digital work titled "Leinies"; Ted Semling, a senior art major from Winona, Minn., for his ceramics work named "Untitled"; Trent Glienke, a senior art major from Faribault, Minn., for his sculpture titled "Only God's Grace"; and Kevin Zappa, a senior art major from Comstock, for his painting named "Untitled."
Scholarships were awarded to the following students: Sigrid Rasmussen Memorial Scholarship, Jarrett Moe, a junior art major from Chisago City, Minn.; Patrick Danen Memorial Scholarship, Tyler Fleig, a senior art major from West Salem; Ruth Foster Scholarship, Dustin Larson, a senior art major from Roseville, Minn.; Edward S. Fish Scholarship, Sara Black, a junior art major from Clayton; Gerald Newton Scholarship, Sara Black, a junior art major from Clayton, Kayla Mourning, a senior art major from Elk River, Minn., Dustin Larson, a senior art major from Roseville, Minn., and Jarrett Moe, a junior art major from Chisago City, Minn.; Gretchen Grimm Art Education Scholarship, Cessely Block, a senior art major from Burlington, Andrew Franko, a senior art major from White Bear Lake, Minn., and Jennifer Imhoff, a senior elementary education and art major from Margate, Fla.; and the Gretchen Grimm Student Teaching Scholarship, Lisa Davis, a senior art major from Pittsville, and Jamie Richardson, a senior art major from McFarland.
