The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Symphony Orchestra will perform a spring concert at 5 p.m. April 25 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Under the direction of Nobuyoshi Yasuda, assistant professor of music, the Orchestra will open the concert with Jean Sibelius' last symphony, "Symphony No. 7 in C major, Op. 105."
"He (Sibelius) conveys a sense of communication with nature," Yasuda said. "You hear in his music his adoration for great Mother Nature and his unbounded love of freedom, of beauty and of life."
After a brief intermission, the Symphony Orchestra will return to play "Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64," by Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, are $5 for the public, $4 for seniors, children under 18 or faculty/staff with a university ID, or $1.50 for students with a university ID. -30- JV/JB
