EAU CLAIRE — The 1999 West Central Odyssey of the Mind Tournament was held at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire March 13 with more than 800 high school students.
Odyssey of the Mind allows high school students to build skills such as risk-taking, creative thinking, problem solving and divergent thinking. Students work as a team to manage projects over many months.
During the tournament, a scholarship is awarded to recognize one student in West Central Wisconsin who has demonstrated a dedication to the process of long term and spontaneous problem solving.
Sara Jensen of Eau Claire received a $500 college scholarship for her participation with Odyssey of the Mind. Jensen has been active with Odyssey of the Mind for four years, two years as a team member and two years as a coach.
There are 16 regions in Wisconsin that have the program and more than 11,000 students participated in Wisconsin this year.
