EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, March 22. All events are free and open to the public.
MONDAY, MARCH 22:
- Irina Goldenberg, Eau Claire, will perform her senior recital on piano at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Goldenberg will open the program with a piece by Dmitry Shostakovich, followed by Beethoven's "Tempest." After a brief intermission, she will perform pieces from Maurice Ravel and Frederic Chopin.
- SUNDAY, MARCH 28:
- A scholarship concert will begin at 4 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The following 1998-99 scholarship winners will perform: freshmen Andrew French, Plymouth, Minn., and Katie Opatrny, Eagan, Minn.; juniors Nicholas Poss, Eau Claire, Curt Vellenga, Sisseton, S.D., Sarah Glader, Spring Lake Park, Minn., and Amber Sparks, Verona; and seniors Karen Melby, Richland Center, Susan Whipkey, Stillwater, Minn., Danae Anderson, Hastings, Minn., and Sara Paar, Verona.
- Mary Schaefer, Mt. Calvary, will perform her senior recital on percussion at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Center. Graduate Peggy Gard, Bloomer, will assist Schaefer on piano. Her performance includes works by Clair Omar Musser, William Kraft's "French Suite" and "Manhattan After Dark" by Vic Feldman.
