Area Students To Perform In
Mozart's 'The Magic Flute'

EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will perform W.A. Mozart's popular opera "The Magic Flute."
The opera opens at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Additional performances are slated for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26-27 and March 4-5. A matinee performance is set for 1:30 p.m. Feb. 28.
Guest performer Andrew Barrett, a professional tenor from Minneapolis, will play Tamino.
Freshman Heather McCornack, Winona, Minn., will be Pamina. Karen Wridt, a senior from Racine, will be the Queen of the Night.
Justus Smith, a junior from Racine, will fill the role of Sarastro, and senior Jeff Madison, Woodbury, Minn., was cast as Papageno. Sophomore Sam Wulterkens, Stanley, will sing the role of Monastatos.
Senior Erin A. Curran, Green Bay, senior Emily Johnson, Chaseburg, and freshman Annalies Slack, Park Falls, are the first, second and third ladies, respectively.
Sophomores John Chesnut, Waupaca, Toby Yatso, Suamico, and Andy Nelson, Eagan, Minn. are the first, second and third priests, respectively.
Sophomore Katie Opatrny, Eagan, Minn., senior Sara Paar, Verona, and sophomore Shanin Buhr, Amery, make up the genies of the cast.
Chorus members are: sophomore Lisa Butcher, Woodbury, Minn.; senior Koral Curkeet, Manitowoc; sophomore Jordan Keller, Wisconsin Dells; junior Brenda Greenwald, Sheboygan; sophomore Allison Watts, Beloit; junior Brandon Richards, Chippewa Falls; freshman Holly Olson, Portage; freshman Jennifer Weber, Menomonie freshman Kevin Tambornino, Wausau; sophomore Lisa Wilhelm, Boscobel; freshman Ryan Stockman, Apple Valley, Minn.; and sophomore Jeannine Slaughter, Humbird.
Tracy Marie Phelps, Anoka, Minn., will be assistant director and stage manager under director Robert Knight, associate professor of theatre arts.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors or children under 18, or $5 for students, faculty or staff with a university ID.
