UW-Eau Claire Wellness Fair|
Set For Feb. 18
MAILED: Feb. 10, 1999|
Aimed at helping University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire staff, faculty and students attain and maintain health and wellness, the 10th annual Spring Wellness Fair will offer information, entertainment and, among other things, a chance to visit with Alice in Dairyland.
The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 18 in various locations on the second floor of Davies Center.
More than 40 booths of exhibitors from campus departments and community organizations will present health-related information. A two-mile walk/run or three-mile roll along the Chippewa River Trail will begin at 12:15 p.m.
Student performers also will entertain and lead demonstrations throughout the day in the Tamarack Room. Performers and demonstrators will include The Innocent Men, Two to Tango Dance Club, Concert Dance Co., Hwa Rang Do/Tae Soo Do Club and Impromptu.
Exhibit booths will be located in the Tamarack and Wisconsin rooms and feature such health topics as nutrition, physical fitness, chiropractics, body image issues and personal health emphasis. Health-related workshops will be held in Davies Theatre throughout the day.
A milk-drinking relay contest by 16 "wellness ambassadors" will be presided over by Alice in Dairyland. The relay will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Skylight Lounge. A Trek 800 Sport mountain bike will be offered as the fair's door prize.
Beth Jansen-Bonde, Wellness Fair coordinator, said the fair will be a fun event, offering everything from health assessments to massages.
"It's an interactive, educational experience where folks from the campus community can gain knowledge and insights regarding health and local resources available to them," she said.
Admission is free. For more information, contact Jansen-Bonde at (715) 836-2001.
