UW-Eau Claire to Host Annual
Mathematics Meet Feb. 13

EAU CLAIRE —
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire department of mathematics will host the 17th annual regional Mathematics Meet for high school students Saturday, Feb. 13.
UW-Eau Claire Chancellor Donald Mash will give the welcoming address at 10 a.m. in room 100 of Hibbard Hall.
Thirty-eight teams representing private and public schools from western Wisconsin will compete in the annual event held at UW-Eau Claire. The event features separate competitions for small, medium and large schools.
Participants will compete for team championships as well as individual honors. First- and second-place teams and top individuals will receive trophies. All competitors and team sponsors will receive T-shirts and certificates.
UW-Eau Claire scholarships, funded by a grant from Northern States Power, will be awarded to the top four individual winners in each of the three divisions at an awards ceremony. The awards ceremony will begin at 1:20 p.m. in room 100 of Hibbard Hall.
High schools that competed in past meets included Augusta, Black River, Brookwood, Chippewa Falls, Durand, Eau Claire Memorial, Eau Claire North, Eau Claire Regis, Fall Creek, Granton/Neillsville, Holmen, La Crosse Aquinas, La Crosse Central, La Crosse Logan, Medford, Mondovi, Osseo-Fairchild, Prairie Farm, Prentice, Rib Lake, Royall, Somerset, Stanley-Boyd and West Salem.
In case of bad weather, the meet will be held Saturday, Feb. 27.
