The 1999 Leadership Recognition Awards Ceremony at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will begin with a reception at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.
The accomplishments of student leaders and organizations are celebrated at the campus-wide program, which is free and open to all.
After opening remarks by Dr. Thomas Miller, interim provost and vice chancellor, Chancellor Donald Mash will make a presentation titled "Thoughts on Leadership."
The nine applicants for the Student Organization Award will be introduced, and the award will be presented by Patrick Quinn, president of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Inc. The award recognizes student organizations that have demonstrated distinguished service to campus and community, creative programming and involvement in the university.
Five of the 143 outstanding student leaders who have been nominated by faculty, staff and students will receive the Student Leadership Award. All nominees will be introduced, and the awards will be presented by Vicki Brown, president of the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association. The emerging and established student leaders will be recognized for their dependability, creativity, group interaction skills, contributions to the campus or community, and leadership qualities.
The program is sponsored by the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association; Burger King of Eau Claire; Chartwells Inc.; the UW-Eau Claire Dean of Students Office; the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Inc.; the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate; and University Centers and Programs.
