Jim Lowe CNS Director
MAILED: Jan. 25, 1999|
Jim Lowe has been named director of Computing and Networking Services at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Lowe will begin his new duties Feb. 15.
Lowe has worked in various capacities for the UW-Milwaukee since 1983. His most recent appointment has been the director of computational technology and instrument innovator in UW-Milwaukee's College of Engineering and Applied Science and Information and Media Technologies offices.
"This is an excellent opportunity for me," Lowe said. "The position will offer many challenges and I'm looking forward to getting to know the faculty, staff and students at UW-Eau Claire and the Eau Claire community."
As CNS director at UW-Eau Claire, Lowe will assist in the development and implementation of campus policy regarding computing and networking issues, consulting routinely with individual faculty and staff and interacting regularly with advisory groups. He also will be responsible for the ongoing administration of CNS and will work collaboratively with the directors of other Information and Technology Management units. In addition, he will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of CNS and making decisions regarding budget and personnel.
Lowe said CNS will continue to play a significant role in UW-Eau Claire's future, as technology continues to mature at a rapid rate.
"We use technology to teach, work and communicate it is now a part of our every day lives," Lowe said. "There is no longer a question of if we will embrace it the question is how we will embrace it and manage the change it represents in our every day lives."
Lowe earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at UW-Milwaukee.
