Forensics Team Wins|

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team competed in its last tournament of the semester on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at the Twin City Forensics League Tournament held at Normandale Community College.'
The team, comprised of 11 students, placed first with 35 points, followed by St. Olaf College with 17 points and Southwest State University with nine.
At the competition, senior Melanie Miller, Anoka, took first in after-dinner speaking. Sophomore Arwen Williams, Eau Claire, placed first in dramatic interpretation and persuasive speaking. Sophomore Barbara Ellevold, Pulaski, also took first place in informative speaking and poetry interpretation.
Senior Leah Hooker, Coon Rapids, Minn., placed second in extemporaneous speaking and third in informative speaking. Cate Dunham, a sophomore from Hartland, placed second in persuasive speaking and fourth in impromptu speaking. Freshman Eric Rassmussen, Eau Claire, placed second in informative speaking and third in prose interpretation. Placing fourth in informative speaking was freshman Amy Carrier, St. Croix Falls.
The team will begin next semester's competition with a tournament on Jan. 15.
