The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will sponsor the 1998 Wisconsin Student Alumni Associations and Student Foundations Conference Nov. 13 and 14 in Davies Center.
The theme, "Building Bridges into the 21st Century," will focus on expanding the knowledge of SAA members to carry out the tradition of student alumni associations. Some 125 students from Wisconsin and other Midwest universities are expected to attend.
Ann Hackel, one of the six conference chairpersons, said it's important to be involved with the student alumni association because it helps students gain knowledge about admissions, the Alumni office and the Office of Chancellor.
The $42 per person admission price includes meals, a T-shirt, conference materials and local transportation.
Hackel said the planning committee has worked since last year to prepare for the conference. It will include sessions, awards presentations and group activities. Other schools attending are encouraged to present topics of their choice, Hackel said. UW-Eau Claire faculty will speak about topics ranging from leadership to stress management, she said.
Denise Pedersen, director of the Alumni Association, said students will have a chance to learn about other SAA/SF organizations. Dr. Humor, a guest luncheon speaker, also will be heard, she said.
The conference is sponsored by the Campus Ambassadors, the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association and the UW-Eau Claire Admissions Office. -30- JM/JB
