EAU CLAIRE
Two dozen students, an associate professor of music and 10 tunes will make up Jazz Ensemble II's fall concert.
The concert is slated for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. One of four jazz ensembles at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Jazz II is under the direction of Ron Keezer.
The fall concert will include "Fingers" by Thad Jones, "The Bari Things You Do" by Geoff Keezer, Johnny Richards' "Recuerdos," "Nature Boy" by Eden Ahbez and Bob Florence's "Party Hearty" before a short intermission. For the second half of the concert, the ensemble will perform four movements of Duke Ellington's arrangements of the "Nutcracker Suite" and "Old Man River" by Jerome Kern.
All of the pieces feature a number of student soloists on saxophone, trumpet, piano, vibes, drums, trombone, bass, French horn and tuba.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, are $3.75 for adults, $2.75 for seniors, children under 18 or faculty/staff with a university ID, or free for students with a university ID. -30- JV/JB
