EAU CLAIRE
Acoustic guitarist Dan Schwartz will perform three free concerts Nov. 19-21 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
His shows will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in The Cabin, Davies Center. Refreshments will be sold.
Dan Schwartz received a bachelor of fine arts degree in performance in American finger-style guitar at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee the only university in the world that has offered such a degree. In 1992 he joined the faculty of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, and two years later won first place in the conservatory's finger-style guitar scholarship competition.
In 1997, Schwartz released his debut CD, "The Art of Making Fire," and earned a Minnesota Music Awards nomination for guitarist of the year. Fingerstyle Guitar magazine called him "another artist on the verge of a major breakthrough... His new release will undoubtedly place him among the likes of Shawn Colvin and David Wilcox."
Along with Leo Kottke, Eric Johnson and Billy McLaughlin, Schwartz is featured on Narada Records' new compilation recording, "Masters of Acoustic Guitar."
The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate. -30- JS/JB
