The Singing Statesmen Fall
Concert Slated For Nov. 13

EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Singing Statesmen will perform its fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The repertoire includes "Missa Brevis" by David A. Baker, chair of the music and theatre arts department. The ensemble also will sing Jacob Handl's "Haec Dies," "Ubi Caritas Et Amor" by Mack Wilberg, David Conte's "Three Sacred Pieces" and "Barb'ra Allen" by Randall Gill.
Freshman Andy French and junior Nick Poss will play piano in the Conte piece and freshman Matthew Steiner will solo on bass in "Barb'ra Allen."
Gary Schwartzhoff, associate professor of music, will direct the Statesmen. Schwartzhoff is director of choral activities at UW-Eau Claire and the conductor for the Master Singers, an adult chamber ensemble with membership from throughout the Greater Chippewa Valley.
The Singing Statesmen represent diverse academic disciplines with a common passion ¾ choral music. The ensemble has released four recordings in its 31-year history. Two of these recordings are available on compact disc for $15 each: the 25th Anniversary and Volume 3.
Tickets for the fall concert are available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, children under 18 and faculty/staff with university ID, or $1.50 for students with university ID. -30- JV/JB
