Wins Winona Tournament

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team took first place in the team sweepstakes of the Winona University Forensics Tournament the weekend of Oct. 9-10.
At the tournament, sophomore Cate Dunham, Hartland, placed first in extemporaneous speaking, second in informative speaking and fifth in impromptu speaking. Sophomore Jodi Becker, Germantown, placed first in persuasive speaking, fourth in poetry interpretation, fifth in rhetorical criticism and sixth in impromptu speaking. Senior Melanie Miller, Anoka, placed second in persuasive speaking and fourth in prose interpretation.
Placing third in dramatic interpretation was Barbara Ellevold, a sophomore from Pulaski. Ellevold also placed fourth in persuasive speaking. Sophomore Reid Sollberger, Spooner, placed third in poetry interpretation and fifth in duo interpretation with freshman Eric Rasmussen of Eau Claire. Sophomore Arwen Williams, Eau Claire, placed sixth in dramatic interpretation.
The team traveled to Eastern Michigan University the weekend of Oct. 16-17.
