UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association
MAILED: Sept. 25, 1998|
As part of the Homecoming festivities this fall, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Alumni Office will present 1987 graduate Robert Quinette with the Outstanding Recent Alumnus Award on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The award, which honors Alumni within 15 years of their commencement, is being given to Quinette because of his achievements in the business management and human resources field.
Quinette's Denver-based company Staff Administrators Inc. ¾ of which he is CEO and president ¾ provides human resources and risk management services to businesses across the nation and is Colorado's largest professional employer organization.
Quinette started the company in 1991. During its first year, the company had three employees and did about $28,000 in business. Five years later, it grew to a $100 million business, with six branches located in Colorado, Wisconsin and California.
The criteria for the award are personal and professional achievement marked by eminence and distinction ¾ criteria that Quinette not only meets but also exceeds, said Denise Pederson, director of the Alumni Association.
"In addition to his outstanding professional achievements, he also has made community involvement a priority," Pedersen said. "The combination of personal and professional excellence makes him an ideal recipient for this award."
In 1996, Quinette was awarded the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce's Small Business of the Year award and was a finalist for the Rocky Mountain Entrepreneur of the Year award. And in 1997, Inc. 500 listed the company as No. 144 of America's 500 fastest growing private companies. In January 1997, Florida-based Vincam Group Inc. purchased Staff Administrators.
Among his community activities is his involvement in Metro Mobility, a non-profit transportation company that transports the elderly to meal sites and physically challenged individuals to life-saving dialysis.
By placing a high value on honesty and integrity in his dealings in his personal and business lives, Quinette is able to reach many goals, his personal secretary Kelley Strande wrote in a letter nominating him for the alumni award.
"(He) is a leader who always has time to listen, counsel and advise," Strande said.
Quinette, a DePere native who graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a degree in marketing, will be honored at a reception and dinner being held in the Tamarack Room of Davies Center. The dinner will begin at 6 p.m., Oct. 3.
Tickets tot he dinner are $12 and are available at the door or by calling the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association at (715) 836-3266.
