MAILED: Sept. 15, 1998
EAU CLAIRE
Traffic signals were installed at the First Avenue and Water Street intersection in an effort to help University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire faculty, staff and students get to campus from the Water Street parking lot.
Law enforcement officials are reminding bicyclists and pedestrians that they also must obey the signals. UW-Eau Claire Public Safety officers and the Eau Claire police department will monitor the intersection to ensure safety and compliance by motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.
University officers also will continue to monitor bike speeds on the Garfield Avenue hill to prevent injuries.
