EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire art department will make its annual trip to Chicago Oct. 16-18.
Professor Steve Katrosits, chair of the art department, and Bobby Pitts, assistant professor of art, will lead the trip.
Participants will visit the Cassatt "Modern Woman" exhibit at the Art Institute, as well as the Museum of Contemporary Art, both in Chicago. The "Modern Woman" exhibit is the focus and main attraction of the trip. On its way back to Eau Claire, the group will visit the Madison Art Center.
"Trips like this one are the most transformative experiences for students that I have ever had the privilege of witnessing," Katrosits said. "Being able to experience the artwork directly, and in context with a group of peers and faculty, makes art come alive for them."
The Chicago trip is open to members of the UW-Eau Claire campus as well as the public. Admissions to the Cassatt exhibit and the Museum of Contemporary Art, round trip motor coach and a two-night stay at the Essex Inn of Chicago are included in the price.
Tickets may be purchased at the Service Center of Davies Center. The cost is $140 per person for a two-person room and $100 per person for a four-person room. The deadline to sign up is Sept. 14.
An organizational meeting for the trip will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 22 in room 105 of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
