'A Steinway Celebration'
Slated for Sept. 13

EAU CLAIRE
The Friends of Music and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire department of music and theatre arts will sponsor "A Steinway Celebration" at 4 p.m. Sept. 13 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The event is a duo-piano recital in celebration of the successful 50th Anniversary Steinway Piano Campaign.
Nancy Rice Baker, professor of music, and Barbara Wimunc-Pearson, associate professor of music, will perform a three-piece set on the new Steinway concert grand pianos.
Rice Baker received a master of music from the University of Illinois and has studied with such pianists as George Cherry, Claire Richards and Bernhard Weiser. She also has performed at the Elvejhem Museum of Art in Madison and taped solo recitals for broadcast over Wisconsin Public Radio.
Wimunc-Pearson was a finalist for the Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award and has also performed on Wisconsin Public Radio. She has served as an adjudicator for the Wisconsin Music Teacher Association.
The duo will start the afternoon with "Carmen," Concert Suite by Georges Bizet, followed by "Petrouchka," Three Movements by Igor Stravinsky and will finish with "Porgy and Bess," Fantasy by George Gershwin.
The recital is free and open to the public.
