EAU CLAIRE — Chancellor-designate Don Mash won't be the only new face on campus this fall at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. A number of new faculty and staff also will join the university for the 1998-99 academic year.
New faculty in the English department are Dr. Stefanie Sievers, lecturer; Scott Oates, assistant professor; Dr. Lawrence Martin, professor; Dr. Suellynn Duffey, assistant professor; Blake Westerlund, lecturer; Dr. Robert Damm, lecturer; Beth Bretl, lecturer; and Dennis Jerz, assistant professor.
Annette Schwendinger joins the department of family health nursing as an instructor, and Dr. Susan Johnson becomes associate dean of the School of Nursing.
The mathematics department hired Arnie Rongstad as a lecturer.
The communication and journalism department hired Andris Straumanis as an associate lecturer.
Joining the department of foundations of education are senior lecturer Dr. Cynthia Gray Mash and associate lecturer Robert Reid. Sarah Hadden was hired as an assistant professor of special education.
Dr. Andrew Phillips will join the computer science department as chair and professor.
Dr. Pamela Gray has been hired as a physician for Health Services.
Dr. Christopher Hart will be an assistant professor of allied health.
Joining the Dean of Students Office is Dr. Robert Burns as the service-learning coordinator.
The new director of the McIntyre Library is Robert Rose.
Stephen Elfstrand joins library services as an assistant professor.
Sandra Starck will be an assistant professor of art.
And Dr. Karen Brookens will join the music and theatre arts department as an assistant professor. Dr. Robert Bayless will join the music and theatre arts department as a lecturer.
Career Services hired Jeanne Sinz as its new director.
And Dr. William Jacobson is the internship/field experience coordinator for Academic and Career Services.
The management and marketing department hired Dr. Rama Yelkur as an assistant professor.
Joining the chemistry department will be assistant professors Dr. Marcus McEllistrem, Dr. Stephen Drucker and Dr. James Phillips.
Kimberly Knesting and Dr. Gregory Madden will be assistant professors in the psychology department.
Tamara Lindsey will be an assistant professor of curriculum and instruction.
Michael Erpenbach was hired as an outreach specialist for the Educational Opportunity Center.
Dr. Karl Markgraf was named director for the Center for International Education.
In the biology department, new faculty include assistant professors Dr. Anne Capistrant and Dr. Daniel Conklin.
Dr. James Tubbs joins the political science department as an assistant professor.
Melinda Miceli will be an assistant professor in the sociology and anthropology department.
Dr. David Schaffer and Kristen Monaco will join the economics department as assistant professors.
In the foreign languages department, new faculty include assistant professors Dr. Mary Iribarren and Dr. Martina Lindseth.
Dr. Gloria Fennell will become an assistant professor in the social work department.
The philosophy and religious studies department has hired Dr. Brett Greider as a lecturer.
And Mary LaRue will be a senior lecturer and assistant athletic trainer for the kinesiology and athletics departments. Scott Steuernagel was hired by kinesiology as a coach.
Kristine Anding is the associate director of the Admissions Office. Julie Severson was hired by the Admissions Office as a public relations specialist.
Lisa Schuetz was hired by University Centers and Programs as a recreation specialist.
