Parents can spend time with their children while children learn gymnastics basics through a program offered this fall at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
"Moms, Dads and Tots" is designed to help boys and girls ages 2 to 3 learn gymnastics through proper instructions and fun activities. One or both parent(s) should enroll with the child.
The class, which has a limited enrollment of 15, begins Sept. 5 and continues through Dec. 12. The class will be taught from 9-9:45 a.m. each Saturday.
Cost of the program is $60 per child.
Lisa McIntyre, UW-Eau Claire's women's gymnastics coach, will instruct the class. McIntyre has more than 11 years of coaching experience and toured with the 1984 U.S. Olympic gymnastic team.
This class provides an opportunity for parents to experience what their children are experiencing, McIntyre said. Parents can be there when their child first overcomes a fear of heights or the success of doing a forward roll.
"Parents are learning proper techniques, too, so they can go home and practice with their children, using the correct techniques," she said.
To register, call (715) 836-5400. For information about class content, call (715) 836-3991.
