UW-Eau Claire Adds 20|
MAILED: July 27, 1998|
Twenty additional visitor's parking spaces will be available this fall at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
The parking area behind Zorn Arena and Brewer Hall will be reserved for visitor's parking, said Gary Bartlett, coordinator of parking and transportation services. The existing Visitor's Center has 16 spaces.
The new area will primarily serve the Admissions and Placement offices as well as departments bringing groups of people to campus for conferences, Bartlett said. The lot will continue to be available for special university needs.
"This will free up the existing Visitor's Center so we can handle individual reservations as well as hopefully provide space for drive up visitors without reservations," he said.
Bartlett said at the start of the 1998-99 academic year, a parking staff person will control access to the lot. The university is exploring whether the permanent control of the area should be in the form of a gate or a staff person, he said.
Markings for games/events that had been used by the former Park School will be removed from the parking lot and the lot will be re-striped, Bartlett said. No other changes are planned at this time.
All areas designated for use by the Children's Center will be fenced in to ensure the safety of the children, he said.
To ensure that a department or office has spaces reserved for its guests, reservations are strongly suggested. Call the Visitor's Center at (715) 836-2544 from 7:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday through Aug. 7. Beginning Aug. 26, the Visitor's Center will be open 7:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.
