Vicki Brown Named|
MAILED: July 23, 1998|
Vicki Brown has been named president of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Alumni Association board of directors.
Brown graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in nursing and earned a master's in business administration in the late 1980s. She is employed by Midelfort Clinic of Eau Claire.
"We try to elect people who are great role models of UW-Eau Claire and Vicki is that," said Denise Pedersen, director of the Alumni Association.
The responsibilities of the board president include being the official board spokesperson, attending alumni functions including Homecoming, presenting awards given by the Alumni Association and running the quarterly meetings of the board itself, Pedersen said.
Brown has been a part of the 28-member board since 1992. The board's primary functions are to generate programs and activities for alumni and serve as a public relations organization for the Alumni Association, Pedersen said.
Brown's goals for her new position include making more of a working board which means re-looking at the board's current mission and goals and striving to get more work done.
"It will be more than just meeting and sharing information," Brown said.
Brown's involvement at UW-Eau Claire stems from a variety of positive campus attributes.
"I like the people here," Brown said. "It is a warm university where you don't feel like just a number."
