EAU CLAIRE -- A number of University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students received scholarships and awards during the annual Viennese Ball in April.

Eleven UW-Eau Claire students received $400 Viennese Ball Senior Music Scholarships.
Recipients were Matthew R. Bear, a music major from White Bear Lake, Minn.; Foster J. Beyers, a music education major from Madison; Jason D. Craft, a music major from New Berlin; Amber R. Dahlen, a music education major from Appleton; and Irina Goldenberg, a music major from Russia who is currently living in Eau Claire.
Other winners were Soma A. Pierce, a music education major from Marine on St. Croix, Minn.; Robert L. Schlidt, a music education major from Hartford; Timothy M. Skutley, a music education major from Eau Claire; Terri Songer, a music education major from Wales; and Susan L. Whipkey, a music education major from Stillwater, Minn.
The 1998 recipient of the Ada Bors Music Service Award was Matthew J. Pivec, a music education major from Minnetonka, Minn.
Two students were awarded $1,000 Viennese Ball international scholarships.
The Wilhelm & Ingrid Brauner Award recipient was Scott P. Lehmann, a computer science and German double major with a minor in music. Lehmann is from New Berlin.
Michaela Walitsch, an English major, is the 1998-99 exchange student from Graz, Austria.
