EAU CLAIRE -- Several students and one faculty member received awards this spring from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Entrepreneur Program. The awards were distributed during the annual Entrepreneur Program Celebration Banquet May 19.
First place in the Best Business Plan category was awarded to Gregory Zingler, a senior entrepreneur major from Tomah. Zingler's idea was Z Advertising, Promotions & Graphics, a marketing agency offering cost-effective marketing tools to small businesses in the Tomah, Sparta and Black River Falls area.
Second place in the Best Business Plan category went to Gerald Burrows, a senior from Priddis, Alberta, Canada, and Steve Whinnery, a senior from Burnsville, Minn. Their idea was an Eau Claire Sports Complex, a multipurpose recreational facility for the city of Eau Claire.
The Entrepreneur Program Service Award was given to Sara Bertram, a senior entrepreneur major from Waukesha, and Zingler.
The Outstanding Entrepreneur Award was given to Dr. Richard Lorentz, professor of management and marketing, for his service to the Entrepreneur Program and the Small Business Institute.
