EAU CLAIRE -- Robert E. Burns will be the service-learning coordinator at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire beginning July 1.
Burns is currently an assistant professor in the graduate program in regional and community planning, department of landscape architecture/regional and community planning at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan. He has held that position since 1989.
At UW-Eau Claire, service learning is a 30-hour graduation requirement for all baccalaureate students. Among the responsibilities of the service-learning coordinator are providing leadership for and coordination of campus-wide service-learning programs, policies and procedures; developing systems and procedures to support and record the service-learning experience; analyze and clarify the roles and responsibilities of student service-learners, faculty/staff and community partners; and act as the point and resource person for service-learning inquiries.
Burns earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, his master's degree from Kansas State University, and his doctoral degree from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich.
