EAU CLAIRE -- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, April 27. All events are free and open to the public.
MONDAY, APRIL 27:
* A SAI and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia American Music Recital will be presented at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Fine Arts Center. Some of the pieces scheduled to be performed are "Jazz at Bop Land," "The Greatest Man," "Come Ready and See Me" and "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot."
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29:
* Matthew Pierce, a senior from Mankato, Minn., will present a student cello recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Fine Arts Center. He will perform "Suite For Two Cellos and Piano" by Menotti, "Sonata No. 2 in F major, Op. 99" by Brahms and "Variations On a Rococo Theme" by Tchaikovsky. Pierce will be assisted by Ann Gilbertson on piano and Matthew Probst on cello.
THURSDAY, APRIL 30:
* A Jazz IV Concert will be presented at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Center. Jazz IV is under the direction of associate professor Robert Baca.
SATURDAY, MAY 2:
* The State Music Contest will be held all day in the Fine Arts Center.
