Honors Week April 20-26

EAU CLAIRE -- The 26th annual Scholastic Honors Week will be held April 20-26 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
The week is designed to recognize UW-Eau Claire students of high scholastic achievement.
Several programs that are open to the public have been scheduled by participating groups, said Robert Shaw, associate dean of students and coordinator of Honors Week. Events will be held in Davies Center at UW-Eau Claire.
The week will begin with the Order of the Omega sponsoring the An Apple for Your Favorite Teacher promotion. Orders will be taken from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the West Lobby and again from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the East Lobby. Apples will be delivered Thursday and Friday.
At 4 p.m. Monday, Omicron Delta Epsilon will sponsor a faculty debate in Davies Theatre. And at 7 p.m. Monday, a pledge ceremony has been scheduled for Alpha Lambda Delta in Davies Theatre.
Voting for the Professor of the Year will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday in the West Lobby and on Wednesday in the East Lobby. Kappa Delta Pi and the Future Teachers' Club will sponsor the voting.
At 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sigma Delta Pi will sponsor the Juego Florales Poetry Reading Competition in the Alumni Room. At 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Badger Room, the Honors Program Organization will sponsor an employee ethics presentation titled "Black and White or Murky Grey" At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, the initiation for Phi Alpha (formerly Alpha Delta Mu) will be held in the Alumni Room. The presentation of the Karl Andresen Scholarship Award is slated for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Indianhead Room. The award's presentation is sponsored by Pi Sigma Alpha. At 9 p.m. Tuesday, the initiation for the Order of the Omega will begin in the Presidents Room.
On Thursday, Sigma Theta Tau will sponsor a program titled "Advanced Directives - Exploring Your Values and Beliefs." That program will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Alumni Room. The initiation meeting for Phi Eta Sigma will begin at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Presidents Room. At 7 p.m. Thursday, the annual SOPHS Telethon will be held in the Towers TV Lounge. Also at 7 p.m. Thursday, Beta Alpha Psi will sponsor a program titled "Fraud & Its Consequences." The program, presented by Jean McCann, will be held in Schofield Auditorium.
On Saturday, the Sigma Theta Tau initiation will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Davies Theatre. At 11:30 a.m. Saturday, a reception will be held for Sigma Theta Tau in the Skylight Lounge. At noon, the Alpha Lambda Delta initiation will be held in Schofield Auditorium. At 1 p.m., the initiation is scheduled for Kappa Delta Pi in the Alumni Room. Also at 1 p.m. Saturday, the initiation for the Phi Kappa Phi will be held in Davies Theatre. At 2 p.m. Saturday, the initiation for the Beta Alpha Psi will begin in the Presidents Room.
From 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, a combined reception for all groups will be held in the Council Fire Room. That event is sponsored by the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association.
At 2:30 p.m. Saturday, the initiation will begin for the Kappa Mu Epsilon will begin in the Wisconsin Room. Also at 2:30 p.m., the initiation for the Phi Eta Sigma will begin in Davies Theatre. At 3 p.m., the Beta Gamma Sigma initiation will begin in the Alumni Room. At 3:30 p.m., the Omicron Delta Kappa initiation will begin in the Presidents Room.
The 1998 Honors Banquet will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the Spruce-Tamarack Room. The banquet recognizes all Honor Society members. Tickets are required for the banquet.
On Sunday, the initiation ceremony for Mortar Board will begin at 11:30 a.m. on the Central Campus Mall or in Davies Theatre in the case of inclement weather. A noon brunch, sponsored by Mortar Board, will begin at noon in the Dulany Inn.
