University Band to Perform
Concert on April 21

EAU CLAIRE -- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present a University Band Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Center. The University Band is under the direction of graduate student Steve Catron.
Although the band has a membership of about 100 freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors, Catron said few of them are music majors.
"Most of them are students across campus who enjoy playing their instruments," Catron said.
The program with "American Fanfare" by JohnWasson, "Epincion" by John Paulson, "Poetic Intermezzo" by James Barnes and "Cajun Folk Songs" by Frank Ticheli.
After a short intermission, the band will continue with "His Honor" by Henry Fillmore and "An Original Suite" by Gordon Jacobs. "An Original Suite" will be guest conducted by assistant professor Dr. Todd Fiegel.
The next piece is "Bugler's Holiday" by Leroy Anderson, which also will be conducted by Fiegel and feature Catron, Ed Jacobs and Mike Ethridge on euphonium trio.
Closing the program will be "Variations on a Korean Folk Song" by John Barnes Chance.
Tickets for the concert are $3.75 for adults, $2.75 for senior citizens and youths or free for staff, faculty and students with a University ID. Tickets are available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, or at the door.
