MAILED: April 6, 1998
EAU CLAIRE -- Terry Sullivan, director of business services, will retire from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire after 26 years, effective June 30.
Sullivan joined UW-Eau Claire in 1972 as chief accountant. In 1981, he was appointed controller, a title that later changed to director of business services. Before coming to UW-Eau Claire, he was with the F.W. Woolworth central accounting office in Milwaukee.
During his tenure at UW-Eau Claire, Sullivan saw the university's business processes move from manual systems to a highly computerized and integrated system. He participated in the design of the university's first computerized accounting system and its many enhancements since then. He worked with almost every campus unit in designing business processes or in consulting on business matters. His knowledge of UW System rules and regulations made him an effective representative on System wide committees, and he was instrumental in developing some of the System's business and financial policies. He also served on various standing committees at UW-Eau Claire as well as numerous ad hoc and advisory committees.
Sullivan earned his bachelor's degree in business education from UW-Eau Claire in 1971 and served in the United States Air Force from 1961-1966.
David Gessner, associate director of business services, will replace Sullivan as acting director of business services until such time as a new director is appointed.
