EAU CLAIRE -- Three BFA Degree Candidates Senior Shows will be on display March 28-April 22 in the Foster Gallery of the Fine Arts Center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. These exhibits were created by seniors who will graduate in May with a bachelor of fine arts degree.
"Perceptions of Passage" will open Saturday, March 28, with a reception scheduled from 2-4:30 p.m. It will run through April 1. The second exhibit, "The Pink Ladies," will run from April 4-9 with its reception on April 4 from 2-4:30 p.m. The third exhibit, "Four," will run from April 18-22 with its reception on April 18 from 4-6 p.m. All receptions will be held in the Foster Gallery.
Melanie J. Stirneman, a senior graphics design major from Kellogg, Minn., will present a variety of fine arts and graphics.
"The art I create is a reflection of my personality," Stirneman said. "The emotional side of me, whatever I am feeling, shows in my work."
Andrew A. Valdez II, a senior graphics design major with an emphasis on sculpture from Rockport, Texas, will present works consisting of 2-D computer rendered logos, design proposals and photo montages. It also will show 3-D sculpture in various media.
"I find recently that the art I create conveys various forms of soul searching," Valdez said.
Andrew M. Dickrell, a senior graphics design major from Hudson, said his exhibition will consist of graphic design work, photography, watercolor and drawings.
"The graphic design pieces were created to fill allotted needs," Dickrell said. "The photographs and other work deals mainly with space and direction. Capturing and expressing space and movement has been a target goal in many pieces of my work."
Foster Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays and 1-4:30 p.m. weekends.
