Symphony Band to Perform
at UW-Eau Claire March 11

EAU CLAIRE -- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present a Symphony Band Concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Center.
The Symphony Band, directed by associate professor Rodney Hudson, is mostly composed of music majors who are primarily freshmen and sophomores. This is one of two concerts the band will present this semester.
Hudson has conducted the Symphony Band for 2 1/2 years. The band has a membership of 65 students.
It will begin the concert with "Continental Overture" by Johan de Meij, "Walking Tune" and the theme from "Green Bushes" by Perry Grainger and conclude the first portion of the program with "Divertimento for Band" by Karl Kroeger.
After a short intermission, the band will continue with "Praise Jerusalem" by Alfred Reed. Graduate student Steve Catron will then conduct "Elegy" by John Barnes Chance. The concert will conclude with "English Dances" by Malcolm Arnold and Camille Saint-Saens' "Pas Redouble, Op. 86."
Ticket prices for the concert are $4.75 for adults; $3.75 for senior citizens, youths and UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff, or $1.25 with a UW-Eau Claire student ID. Tickets are available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, or at the door.
