MAILED: February 20, 1998
EAU CLAIRE -- Complete with poodle skirts, oldie's tunes and butch wax, the Spring Wellness Fair at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will take a trip back to the 1950s.
Under the theme "Shake, Rattle and Roll," the 11th annual fair will provide those who attend with information on activities and lifestyles promoting good health surrounded by a 1950s atmosphere.
The event, organized by Student Health Service, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 26 in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.
The fair will feature dozens of health-related booths, a two-mile walk or three-mile run on the Chippewa River Trail at 12:15 p.m., and a number of student entertainers including The Stairwells, Innocent Men and Concert Dance Company.
Not only will this year's fair shed light on how to achieve a healthy lifestyle, but it will offer students, university departments and local businesses a chance to showcase projects and information.
Students can fulfill part or all of their Service-Learning requirements toward graduation by completing a project involving academic research related to the type of activities being promoted by the Wellness Fair.
At 10 a.m., three Traveling Awards, judged by the "Neato Booth Inspection Team," will be presented to booths with the most interactive display, most creative display and best dressed presenters.
For more information about the fair or booth activities, contact Beth Jansen-Bonde, wellness coordinator, at (715) 836-2001.
