MAILED: February 20, 1998|
EAU CLAIRE -- "The Art of Steve Brodner and C.F. Payne, Two Master Illustrators," will be on display Feb. 26 through March 24 in the Foster Gallery of the Fine Arts Center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
The art show is curated by Anders Shafer of the art faculty.
An opening reception is scheduled for 7:30-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, in the Foster Gallery. Steve Brodner, a nationally recognized illustrator for 24 years, will attend the opening reception.
Brodner will conduct student critiques on Thursday, Feb. 26, and at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, will present an artist lecture in the Foster Gallery. On Friday afternoon, Brodner and Patrick Flynn, art director of The Progressive Magazine, will lead a group discussion on issues related to working in the art field.
Much of C.F. Payne's work has been seen in Time, Esquire, Rolling Stone, The New York Times and The New Yorker.
Thomas Wagener, director of Foster Gallery, said journalism and political science students also are encouraged to attend the exhibit.
"Many of their works make political or relevant statements in political commentary," Wagener said.
A number of the drawings also are of political personalities, he said.
Foster Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays and 1-4:30 p.m. weekends.
