MAILED: Dec. 4, 1997
EAU CLAIRE -- Darrell Aderman, retired director of the Indianhead Arts & Education Center, received the 1997 Wisconsin Music Educators Association's distinguished Service Award.
Aderman, professor emeritus of the department of community affairs of UW-Extension, received the award at a WMEA luncheon Oct. 31 in Madison as part of the 1997 State Music Conference.
"I can't think of a more deserving recipient," WSMA President Dr. Gerald McKenna said. "Along with many others across the country, Wisconsin teachers have benefited from [Aderman's] record of commitment over the years."
The award is given annually to an individual who has made significant contributions to music and music education during a period of time.
The Indianhead Arts & Education Center is run as a program of the College of Arts and Sciences Continuing Education/UW-Extension office.
