Workshops to Be Offered in January

EAU CLAIRE -- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Alumni Association, in partnership with Career Services and the Educational Opportunity Center, will offer a series of career-related workshops in January. The workshops are designed to help alumni who may be in the process of reviewing, rethinking or revising their current life/work situations.
The workshop "When is it Time for a Change?" will be held Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the Holiday Inn-Campus, 2703 Craig Road. Reservation deadline for this workshop is Jan. 6. This free workshop will help participants size up their current job situation and understand steps that can be taken to become more satisfied.
A kick off reception will be held immediately after this workshop and provides an opportunity for participants to find out more about what is happening at the university, future workshops, and what services are available for alumni.
"Assessing Yourself," part one of a two-part workshop, will be held Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Holiday Inn-Campus. This workshop will help participants take a look at their preferences and strengths in order to determine their most comfortable work environment. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator will be administered during this session. A $5.50 fee for assessment is required for this workshop. The registration deadline is Jan. 6.
"Resumes for 2000 and Beyond" will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 20, in the Alumni Room, Davies Center. Reservation deadline for this workshop is Jan. 16. Instructors will share tips on marketing skills, abilities, experience and education with an information-age professional resume.
Part two of the "Assessing Yourself" workshop will be held Wednesday, Jan. 21, in the Alumni Room, Davies Center. "Understanding Yourself" will provide a discussion of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and will help participants determine new directions and options for the future. Registration deadline for this free workshop is Jan 16.
"From Job-Searching to Job-Surfing" is a hands-on workshop that shows participants how to use the Internet to conduct a job search or complete on-line application forms. This free workshop will be held Thursday, Jan. 22, in the Schneider Hall computer lab, Room 210. Reservation deadline is Jan 16.
All workshops run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and are open to all UW-Eau Claire alumni, their guests and other friends of the university.
