EAU CLAIRE -- Songwriter Stuart Davis will return to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for three free concerts Nov. 20-22.
The native Minnesotan, who last appeared at UW-Eau Claire in the spring of 1996, will begin his shows at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in The Cabin, Davies Center. Refreshments will be sold.
With five albums behind him at the age of 26, Davis has earned international acclaim for his daring command of language and knack for using it to conquer difficult subjects. European magazines Rock Report and Music Mania named Davis' recording "Nomen Est Numen" Best Album of 1996; his newest album was released in August.
"Not since Bob Dylan burst through 30 years ago has Minnesota produced such a confident and creative songwriter and social observer. While his peers are still singing half-hearted love songs, Davis weaves between satire, cultural criticism and touching introspection with equal effectiveness," wrote the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
