EAU CLAIRE -- Tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, for an appearance by comedian Howie Mandel on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Zorn Arena.
Howie Mandel's career has included television, film and the stage. His 10th cable television special, "The HBO Comedy Hour: Howie Mandel On Ice," aired extensively in late spring.
Mandel is executive producer of "Bobby's World," an animated children's TV series that also features Mandel's writing and voices. "Bobby's World" will soon be complimented by a new animated Saturday morning series for the Fox network, called "Earnest." Mandel's interactive animated CD/ROM series, aimed at educating children while entertaining them, has won 36 awards and worldwide critical acclaim.
The comedian started his career on a dare during a business trip to Los Angeles in 1979. At the Comedy Store on amateur night, he was coaxed by his friends to do two minutes on stage. A producer in the audience hired Mandel on the spot to appear on the comedy game show "Make Me Laugh." This led to talk shows, a stint as an opening act for Diana Ross, and eventually the TV series "St. Elsewhere." Mandel portrayed Dr. Wayne Fiscus for six years on the award-winning NBC drama.
