EAU CLAIRE --The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Concert Choir will perform at 2 p.m. Nov. 16 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Center.
With conductor Gary R. Schwartzhoff, the choir has achieved many accomplishments during the past years. In 1996, it performed at the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association Convention and at the ACDA North Central Division Convention in Lincoln, Neb. The Concert Choir appeared at the 1997 National ACDA Convention in San Diego, Calif., in the premiere performance of "Jacob's Prayer" by Gian Carlo Menotti. It has been invited to perform at the 1998 ACDA Divisional Convention's Millennium Feast in Minneapolis on March 12, 1998.
"Like the Singing Statesmen, the Concert Choir has a lot of new members. One-half of the male section in the choir is freshmen and new to the group," Schwartzhoff said. "They have worked hard and know what is ahead of them. There are big things for both groups ahead."
The Nov. 16 Concert Choir performance will feature pieces such as "Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden"; Motet VI by Johann Sebastian Bach; "The Choral Fantasia" by Ludwig Van Beethoven, with accompanist Brenda Greenwald; and "Hard Times Come Again No More," an American folk song by Stephen Foster and Mark Keller.
The cost is $4.75 for the public; $3.75 for ages 17 and under, and 62 and over, and faculty and staff; or $1.25 for students with a UW-Eau Claire ID.
