EAU CLAIRE -- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has announced the winners of five scholarships for academically qualified single-parent students who demonstrated financial need and are responsible for dependent children.

Winners of the $2,000 scholarships are Rebecca Bien, a freshman nursing major from Durand; Carrie Ferber, a junior psychology major from Eau Claire; Carol Hajdasz, a senior social work major from Eau Claire; Ruth Keller, a senior journalism major from Eau Claire; and Stephanie Wagner-Ganong, a junior accounting major from Eau Claire.

UW-Eau Claire received the $10,000 for the five scholarships from private donations. The scholarship money can be used to help students pay for child care and other expenses while they attend school.
