EAU CLAIRE -- Acoustic guitarist Ellis Bergeron will open the fall season of The Cabin performance series at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with three free concerts Sept. 18-20.
Her shows will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in The Cabin, Davies Center. Refreshments will be sold.
Bergeron began her performing career in the coffeehouses of Minneapolis, which she now fills to capacity. Her first-place finish at The Fine Line Music Cafe's singer-songwriter competition gave her music immediate exposure on Twin Cities' radio stations. Peter Johns from 93.7 The Edge called her "one of the best up-and-coming songwriters in the Twin Cities."
Bergeron's debut recording "Soft Day" sold more than 1,000 copies in four months. She has shared stages with major label artists Matthew Sweet and Martin Zellar, and is often compared stylistically to Ani Defranco and the Indigo Girls.
The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate. A complete schedule of Cabin events is available from the Activities and Programs Office, Davies Center 133, (715) 836-4833.
