EAU CLAIRE -- Thunderchief will present three free concerts at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Oct. 9-11.
The singer-songwriter will begin his shows at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in The Cabin, Davies Center. Refreshments will be sold.
Francis Steindorf uses his Hochungra (Wisconsin Winnebago) name - Wakanjah Hoonk, which translates as Thunderchief - when he performs. As a songwriter, he incorporates themes of both historical and contemporary tribal realities, as well as songs about love and life. His music has been described as folk/rock and reggae, but he blends these styles with traditional songs. His songs tell stories of struggles, perceptions and events that are realities for American Indians.
The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
