MAILED: Sept. 12, 1997|
EAU CLAIRE -- The Atomic Numbers has been selected to open a concert by The Verve Pipe on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. (not 8 p.m. as previously announced) in Zorn Arena.
A rock band formed last year in Detroit, Mich., The Atomic Numbers recently released its debut recording, "Flying Machine" -- a melodic collage of unadulterated guitar pop.
"Villains," The Verve Pipe's debut album on the RCA label, has climbed into the top 25 on the Billboard 200 chart. The title track is now receiving nationwide rock radio airplay, and the album's first single, "The Freshmen," has been a staple on the rock and mainstream rock charts since its commercial release last spring.
Reserved seating tickets are $16.50, plus a $1 service fee, at the University Service Center in Davies Center. Tickets may be charged to MasterCard or Visa when ordered by phone. Call (715) 836-3727 -- or, outside the immediate Eau Claire area, call toll-free (800) 949-UWEC. A $3 handling fee will be added to all telephone charge orders.
The concert is sponsored by Event Resources Presents Inc. and the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
