EAU CLAIRE -- New students tend to have many questions during their first days on a college campus, and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is no exception.
To make it easier for students to get answers to their questions, the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate is sponsoring an "Answer Tent" on the campus mall during the first three days of classes. The tent will be staffed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sept. 2-4, by representatives of Public Safety, Dean of Students Office, Counseling Services, Advising and Academic Testing, Activities and Programs and Recreation.
"The idea is to provide a place where students can get one-stop answers, no matter what the question," says January Boten, Senate vice president. "If staff members can't answer a particular question, CellularOne has donated phones we can use to reach someone who does."
Even though the effort is geared toward new freshmen, anyone is welcome to stop, said organizer Kris Kleinsteiber, a student employee in the Dean of Students Office.
Z-100 radio will broadcast live from the campus during the three-day period, with drawings for pizza, Mountain Dew and other prizes each day.
In case of rain, the Answer Tent will move to the Locust Lounge by the Information Center in Davies Center.
